Be a Friend to a Hero

If you want an uplifting volunteer experience, I highly recommend being a mentor at Drink at the Well. You get the pleasure of building a relationship with your mentee who becomes your sister-friend. I have learned so much about forgiveness from my mentee. She uses every ounce of her energy to improve... She is setting a fantastic example for each of her family members. To me she is a hero. How often do you get to be a friend to a hero? Volunteering at The Well is a privilege.

No One Should Walk Alone

Here at The Well, we firmly believe no one should walk through life alone. Our community of women is dedicated to transformation through long-term relationships, practical programs, and the healing power of love. Central to our mission is our COR Life Development program, where the concept of a “Sister Friend” becomes a beacon of hope, support, and accountability for women entering our organization.

Defining a Mentor

According to Webster, “A mentor teaches or gives help and advice to a less experienced, often younger person.” Our perspective adds another layer— The Well’s Founder, Mandy, describes a mentor as life's tour guide. The key to successful mentorship, as we believe, lies in the balance of unconditional love and accountability. A mentor serves as a guide, investing their life into another's in an intentional relationship, driven by the heart and motivation to see that person reach their full potential.

The Sister Friend Connection

Upon joining our COR Life Development program, we do our best to pair each woman survivor with a mentor, a.k.a. her “Sister Friend.” These mentors are pivotal in helping women rise above life's challenges, guiding them into a life filled with design and purpose. Through the Sister Friend mentorship, women experience a profound transformation driven by unconditional love, encouragement, prayer, education, accountability, and the development of a life plan. The impact of this mentorship extends beyond individuals, creating a positive ripple effect in our community and contributing to a cultural shift in Baltimore, MD.

Your Role as a Sister Friend Mentor

Becoming a Sister Friend mentor is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of women seeking positive change. As a mentor, you'll provide loving accountability, establish a faithful prayer partnership, lend a listening ear, maintain confidentiality, and exemplify Christ-like character in your own life. It's important to note that being a mentor doesn't require perfection or having all the answers. Instead, your role is to help develop life goals and purpose, encouraging your Sister Friend by offering additional resources to support her journey.

Core Values That Drive Us

At the heart of The Well's programs are our core values: Love, Relationships, Community, Education, Accountability, and Responsibility. Living above life's challenges and finding purpose is not just an individual journey—it's a collective effort. Sister Friend mentors embody these values as they walk alongside women survivors, offering discipleship, sharing resources, and turning life's challenges into possibilities for a brighter future.

Join Us on the Journey

Life's challenges are more manageable and purposeful when faced together. By becoming a Sister Friend mentor, you contribute to a community that believes in the transformative power of relationships, education, and love. Your role extends beyond mentorship; you become a catalyst for positive change in the lives of women and the Baltimore community.

Are you ready to embark on this meaningful journey with us? Volunteer at The Well as a mentor and participate in empowering transformation, one Sister Friend connection at a time.

Together, we can create a future filled with purpose, hope, and love.
